Marianne
Reversible Pendant. Micro-crochet around Victorian-Era sea pottery and sea glass. These vintage pieces come from the West coast of Scotland from a small island used as a sea dump from 1850-1920. I love to take what is broken and discarded and create something new, to be loved once more.

The Pink piece of sea pottery is a piece of ‘spongeware’ . Spongeware was first produced in Scotland in the 1830s and enjoyed its golden period from 1860 to 1880. The patterns were created by dipping a shaped sponge in coloured pigment and gently pressing it onto a piece of earthenware pottery of a contrasting colour, creating an overall sponged pattern. A clear glaze was then applied, and the piece fired.
