Open Twining using paper string - Saturday 26 April
Discover the art of open twining using paper string, a versatile and ancient basketry technique that dates back thousands of years yet feels distinctly contemporary in its open, airy form. Traditionally used in cultures across the world to create strong yet flexible vessels, twining involves weaving two strands around a framework. In contrast, open twining allows for lightness, movement and negative space in your designs.
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll be guided through the fundamentals of open twining using premium Austrian-made paper string by PaperPhine—a beautifully textured, lightweight material that brings a modern elegance to this time-honored craft.
